Key West  is the southernmost city in the continental United States. It is also the only frost free city in the continental United States. The two by three mile island is the last island, that you can drive to, in the chain of islands off the southern tip of Florida. It is where the Gulf of Mexico meets the Atlantic. Fishermen, artists, writers and some who claim to be pirates call Key West home. It is one of the most metropolitan small towns you can find. You will find all of this in Key West with a tropical breeze and a laid back attitude.

Some of the best diving in the world can be done off the shores of Key West.  The third largest coral reef is seven miles off shore of the Keys. It is also a fisherman's paradise, with wonderful deep sea and back country fishing to offer. Key West not only has the rich bounty of the sea to offer it is also rich in history.  In old town Key West you will find historic homes built by ship builders. The "Conch Houses" are known for their ginger bread. The small shotgun homes are "cigar makers' cottages" from the era when Key West was the center of cigar production. Some of the large homes are from the days of wrecking. Many ships sunk off the shores of the keys. Wrecking made Key West the wealthiest city per capita in the United States in the 1830's. Today treasure hunters are still finding sunken Spanish galleons. Key West has been a boom and bust town all though its history.

Nowadays people who come to Key West are coming to enjoy the unique flavor Key West has to offer . You can always have fun in Key West. Enjoy the sunny days and wild tropical nights in paradise. Many of the bars and restaurants have live entertainment. Once you arrive in the Conch Republic, you will see it is like nowhere else, "It's Key West".
